BlockGoblin was never intended for physical release. What kind of idiot would buy it? But then Were Gnome Records made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I’m contractually forbidden from saying how much money was involved but let’s just say it was enough to buy a Gregg’s pasty /and/ a can of Tizer. For that kind of money they could have have had my kidney (they didn’t and it’s too late now, losers, the contract has been signed).

So here you are. The first ever BlockGoblin cassette. The logical place to start? Yep, you guessed it: 5.

I cheated.

The previous four EPs are all made solely with Casio VL-1 emulator and bucket fulls of reverb. On this EP I also use the Valhalla Freq Echo plugin. I make no apologies.

Dedicated to Karl Kopka, who inadvertently birthed a genre.

Much kudos to Davey Sasahara (Block Wizard) who first blazed the trail which us block warriors follow.

A dreamy, beguiling, nostalgic dungeon synth quest through the shires. But, it's so much more than that. The LP incorporates some unique key changes, field recordings and a lot of Mort Garson style synth work. It sometimes reminds me of old 70's PG horror soundtracks. My favorite out of the three I believe.The sound is more aggressive and fits the cover art of what looks like a perilous journey for the protagonist. Fits well at being the second in the trilogy of albums. Every song is good and the cassette tape and package is of good quality. A Great buy that deserves a vinyl edition. Joshua Laleina
